Stage 1

At the College we are dedicated to providing a loving, caring and nurturing environment for our Early Primary Years students. We provide differentiated academic programs to ensure quality learning at the beginning of children’s schooling. Students will develop a love of learning and the life-long learning skills to serve them in their future endeavours. They are provided with endless opportunities for hands-on learning which enables them to make connections between real and abstract concepts.

Stage 1 Curriculum

Students in Years 1 and 2 receive a solid foundation for learning. They build on the experiences of Kindergarten and continue to stretch and grow their understanding. All students at the College learn from the curriculum as mandated by the NSW Education Standards Authority, which includes six Key Learning Areas for a well-rounded education. The six areas include Mathematics, English, Science, Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE: History and Geography), Creative Arts, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE). All of these Key Learning Areas are taught through a biblical world view, alongside the College’s Building Learning Power framework to develop learning skills or dispositions and the content to be learnt.

Stage 1 Swim School

The College’s Outdoor Education program encompasses 'Healthy, Safe and Active Lifestyles' skills and includes water safety. For this reason, the College engages all Year 1 and 2 students in swim school every year, in the warmer months. Our purpose is to ensure our students are safe around water and improve their swimming ability in preparation for the College swimming carnival the following year. All students are taught age-appropriate skills at their skill level in a safe environment.
